In our physical bodies constant growth of cells in some body organ we refer to as cancer; a condition which eventually leads to death as those cells cause failure of this organ and of other organs of the body.
Some claim that the economy of a society can have constant growth. This leads to failure of the society as the economy collapses into recessions and as a focus entirely on the economy causes failure in all other aspects of the society such as access for all to nutrition, healthcare and education. Even love of family and our neighbors breaks down as people place personal monetary gain above time with family and ensuring that neighbors and strangers needs are met equally with their own.
